Novopredstavljeni Panasonic FZ48 superzum aparat spada u kategoriju prijelaznih između svijeta kompakta i SLR-ova i premda neki kompaktni modeli poput Panasonicovog TZ10 izazivaju njegov moćni 24x zum, aparat i dalje nudi puno foto amaterima. Poput 25 mm širokokutnog objektiva, te FullHD 1080 video snimanja, ali uz punu manualnu kontrolu kroz Creative Control paket funkcija. Korisnici tijekom snimanja mogu kontrolirati brzinu okidača i tako stvarati specijalne efekte, dok se kroz kontrolu otvora blende efektivno kontrolira dubina polja i zamućenost dijelova snimka. Slični kreativni modovi postoje i prilikom snimanja fotografija, a vlasnike Panasonic 3D TV-ova obradovaće mogućnost snimanja 3D fotografija fizičkim pomicanjem fotoaparata prilikom snimanja druge fotografije. Uobičajene Panasonic funkcije, poput inteligentnog auto moda, nisu izostale za one koji sve žele prepustiti automatici.
